Hair-loss including baldness, bald patches and thinning hair which is very common, affect many people at some time in their lives. The causes of these may be related to the following: genetics, stress, anaemia, poor nutrition, hormonal imbalance, thyroid disease and chemotherapy.
TCM believes that kidney deficiencies cause various health problems, including hair loss. In “Huang Di Nei Jing”, a wellknown theory produced before the Christ, has mentioned that the kidney is the key to human primary strength…, because it is the root of Qi (vital energy). This book has become one of the main TCM theories developed over two thousand years. Healthy hair depends on an abundant flow of Qi and blood to the scalp and hair roots. If this nourishing flow is compromised, the hair will suffer.
TCM is extremely effective at treating hair loss and the underlying conditions which cause hair loss. Treatment is focussed on creating balance and harmony in the body by : strengthening the blood, balancing hormones, restoring Qi and directing blood to the scalp.
During your consultation with the GinSen Practitioner, your hair and scalp will be examined. Our Practitioner will use classic TCM diagnostic techniques to identify the underlying cause of the hair loss.
Treatment will be tailored to your specific conditions and may include some or all of the following:
- Herbal Tea
- Tuina Massage
- Advice on nutrition, good hair hygiene and lifestyle changes (e.g. good sleeping patterns, exercise, reducing stress, etc).
The duration of treatment will depend on the severity of the condition and whether it is of long standing or recent origin.
