Over the decades our expert knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has helped thousands of women to achieve their dream of motherhood. Here we share how you will improve your chance of conceiving by following our 90 day preconception care plan.
What is preconception care ?
Preconception care means providing your body with the help it needs to sustain a healthy pregnancy in the 3 months before you start trying for a baby.
As you enter pregnancy your body will go through a number of physical and emotional changes as it works away to create a new human being. It is vital that your body is in the best physical and emotional state possible from the outset of your pregnancy journey - The healthier you are, the healthier all of your cells will be – right down to the egg that will form the first building block of your baby.
What does preconception care involve?
Western and Chinese medical research both recognise the importance of maternal health on fertility and the health of the unborn child. There have been multiple studies that demonstrate direct correlations between maternal health and the health of the baby – Some research shows that these correlations last through to adulthood! Preconception matters.
Why 90 days?
Any changes in one’s lifestyle or health can affect the quality and quantity of sperm / eggs produced in approximately 90 days.
For women:
It takes 90 days for women’ eggs to grow and to prepare for ovulation. The quality of the egg is very important for a women’s fertility journey. During this growth phase, the development of the egg is influenced by both internal factors such as Qi, blood, and organ function, nutritional status, hormonal balance as well as external factors such as stress levels, unhealthy diet, and unhealthy lifestyle can also impact the egg’s growth. Therefore, it is believed that making changes for a minimum of 90 days which is equal to 3 month will allow you to see a positive change.
For men:
A Study has confirmed, that on average, it take approximately 90 days for development of testicle to sperm.
According to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), the kidneys play a crucial role in male fertility and sperm health. The kidneys are believed to store vital essence, including Jing, which is considered to be the source of sperm production. This means change in a man’s lifestyle or health can affect the quality and quantity of sperm produced after 90 days.

What is GinSen’s 90 Day Preconception Care Plan?
TCM Specialist Lily Li Hua is Ginsen’s lead practitioner. She comes from a five generation lineage of TCM practitioners and her knowledge of TCM preconception care is exceptional. She has devised a unique 90 day programme that is aimed at maximising your fertility. There are three phases to the plan which come under the broad headings of Detoxing, Balancing and Boosting.
Planning for a family can feel overwhelming and stressful. As we know stress can hinder fertility. In this first month therefore treatment is focused on helping your body to detox and to relax. Treatments such as acupuncture and Chinese herbal supplements will safely assist your Liver (which in TCM theory regulates our response to stressful situations) to function correctly. These gentle treatments are safe, natural and work fast to restore your body to balance, aiding your body to release negative emotions and trapped waste products. This process will gently clear the energy channels that move your vital energy – your Qi – around your body. You will feel calmer and better within yourself.

Once you are feeling more in control of your emotions we will turn our attention to your hormone levels. Your fertility relies on balanced hormone levels and a regular menstrual cycle. There is a wealth of scientific evidence to demonstrate that TCM is effective at optimising menstrual cycles. During this phase of treatment we will work to stimulate ovulation, boost your Blood and circulation and regulate your hormone levels. Once this happens you can expect to produce a larger number of follicles. During this phase we will also gently nourish your energy levels and to harmonise the various cycles that take place within you.
During this final month of preconception care we will seek to improve the function of your ovaries which in turn will result in better quality eggs. Evidence supports the use of TCM treatment to optimise ovarian function. By providing enough nutrients and improving the flow of Blood and Qi to your ovaries the quality of the egg can improve. Treatments will also support Kidney Function, encouraging the production of Vital Essence which is fundamental to new life. For women who are using IVF these treatments will also help to minimise the side effects of the drugs and minimise fatigue and mood swings.
